Hello everyone! Today I continue to share a small case of forgiveness for you. Also I will share some miracle ideas around this mini-case.
Case background: I go to bed every night with my wife on my right side. On my left side is a nightstand with a table lamp on it. Therefore, I am the one who turns off the lamp every night when I go to bed.
It happened one night. I had just laid down to get ready for bed that day when I felt some fatigue, so I wanted to brush up on my mobile phone videos and relax before going to bed. But just as I was lying down, my wife started urging me to switch off the light. When I heard her urging, a slight anger welled up in me. I thought to myself, I’ve only just laid down, I just want to swipe my phone for a while, why can’t she be considerate of others? So I replied back to her with a slightly emotional, “Wait a minute.”
Right after I replied to her, I was suddenly alerted to that anger and I immediately engaged in a forgiveness practice. The first thing I used in this forgiveness practice was dream substitution. As I said in the previous post, I had not woken up from the dream of driving home, but I was still in the dream, driving all the way home, and when I entered the house I was tired and lay down on the bed, and then I heard my wife urging me to turn off the light. In this way, when I used dream substitution in this way, my surroundings and her urging became less real in my perception. With this, I could more easily practice the following forgiveness.
It was some old guilt in my subconscious that manifested my physical exhaustion and the events she was pushing me to, so the manifestation was “guilt within me” and nothing else. Besides, it was only a dream of mine, and there was no one else outside of me. So there was no need for me to condemn her, or for new guilt to appear in my heart.
Since I have not split with the Lord, it is only right that I forgive her for urging me to something that never happened at all. In this way, I can forgive myself for dreaming of this event. Thus, there is only purity and innocence here, and the Holy Spirit is with us.
In this way, after I had applied the dream substitution method and practised forgiveness a few times, the sense of release and a faint feeling of peace were obtained by me. This time, however, I also wanted to practice unity through this event, so after I had obtained the sense of release and the sense of peace, I thought of these two feelings as being what my wife’s is. That is, I will think of my wife’s being as these two feelings rather than that body of hers. In this way what I give becomes what I have, so much so that my experience of myself becomes these two abstract feelings. At that point, the feeling of release and peace with diffusion becomes more solid in my heart. This is the practice of unity.
Finally, when I have completed the above practice of forgiveness and unity, not only does the Holy Spirit dissolve that guilt in my subconscious mind, His inspiration comes to me. That inspiration was that I could turn off the light and go to bed after forgiving a little longer and experiencing the peace of the Lord a little more. And at that moment, in the midst of my forgiveness, my wife seemed to have understood me and she had gone to sleep.
This above case of forgiveness is among the smallest things in life. So why do I hold on to these very small things to practice forgiveness? It is because any old guilt, no matter how “small” it is, is compatible with the original guilt that projects my cosmos and life. So as I forgive and allow the Holy Spirit to dissolve the old guilt, the primal guilt of my split from the Lord will fade a bit. This is the main reason I will hold on to the little things in my life for forgiveness, and why forgiving the little things in my life is just as important as forgiving the big things in my life. And, forgiving the little things in life on a regular basis also develops a keen heart for forgiveness. This has also been a great help to me in forgiving larger life issues.
Old guilt is called deep guilt in The Disappearance of the Universe. These deeper levels of guilt were created by my choosing to forget the “convictions” in the past (the past sometimes transcends the cycle of reincarnation). The principle is that when the “past me” took the world seriously and acted in accordance with the ego mindset, my subconscious mind first and foremost kept defining the original guilt as true. Then on top of that, when the “past me” convicts others or myself of egoistic thinking and chooses to forget (as in the case of my littering), these sins that I created are repressed directly into my subconscious mind and transformed into deeper levels of guilt. These deeper levels of guilt then directly “wrap around” the original guilt and become compatible with it. At this point, the onion of guilt is slowly forming. Eventually it will continue to manifest into the various life issues that I am experiencing now.
Of course, I’m not talking about the onion of guilt to say that it’s that difficult; in fact, this pattern is a good thing for forgiveness. For since every deep level of guilt is compatible with primal guilt, when we are able to detect the emotions and find the events and people that each deep level of guilt manifests to forgive, not only is a deep level of guilt dissolved, but also the primal guilt that projects the life and the Universe is diluted. This is the greatness of forgiveness in its ability to dissolve all guilt at once.
In order to be able to understand more about the power of forgiveness. I will talk about it further with two examples from The Disappearance of the Universe.
1. the Holy Spirit tells Gary in the book, “In the beginning, the life in which you were Thomas, you ended up being executed by an Indian warlord, and the reason why you are going through this is because you had killed that warlord in a previous life.”
2. the Holy Spirit told Gary, “If A Course in Miracles had not appeared, then you would still be reincarnating in this Cosmic Dream for over 100 lifetimes. But because A Course in Miracles has appeared and you have seriously practised the law of forgiveness in this life. Then at best you will awaken to the Lord and break the cycle of reincarnation forever in the next life.”
If we look at these two examples above together, we can get two key points.
1. Karma cannot dissolve primordial guilt, because if karma worked, then everyone could have awakened to the Lord long ago. And the relationship between primal guilt and deep-rooted guilt is, to put it nicely, the relationship between the Appearance and the Essence, or to put it badly, the relationship between the fly and the cesspit; if the cesspit is not removed, the fly will always be there.
2. Only the method of forgiveness can dissolve deep-seated guilt and keep the original guilt fading away, and the method of forgiveness can also put an end to the creation of new guilt. This can lead to the mind that practices forgiveness will return to the heavenly realm with the speed of a shooting star.
There is some depth to the miracle concepts shared in this sharing, so I hope you will refer to The Disappearance of the Universe series of books for understanding. Not only does The Disappearance of the Universe series use a lot of ink to explain what true forgiveness is all about, but it is also a miracle that the Holy Spirit has manifested in order to teach A Course in Miracles. So this series of books can be considered as a preferred supplementary textbook for A Course in Miracles. In addition, my humble book – The Way to Miracles – cannot be compared with The Disappearance of the Universe, but that book also unites a part of my will for the truth. Therefore, I also hope that that book will bring some touch of truth to you, so that you can embark on the path of forgiveness more quickly.
