Hello, everyone! I am Chong Weiqiang from the website of “A Path to Miracles”. It is a pleasure to meet you all! Starting from this sharing, I will share with you some examples of true forgiveness practices in accordance with the relevant concepts of A Course in Miracles. I hope that this sharing will bring you some inspiration and enable you to enter into the practice of forgiveness at an earlier stage.
Before I share, I would like to make it clear that the practice cases I am sharing are based on the concept of forgiveness in The Disappearance of the Universe and the rest of the website, so the understanding of the cases does require you to have some foundation in the practice.
Let’s start the sharing with a case that happened to me.
My wife is a particular nag, and every day when she comes home from work, she nags me about people and things in her company. When I am not busy, I am able to endure her nagging. But sometimes, I will also get tired of her because of her long time nagging. Then just when I get bored, I am alerted to this feeling. For it is a clear sign that “I am identifying with the ego mind and convicting her” and that “some old guilt has manifested and sprouted” in my subconscious. Given that anything in this world is a manifestation of my subconscious guilt or hope, guilt manifests adversity and hope manifests good. And when this manifestation occurs, the ego mind will also tempt me to judge something as good or bad, and I will then feel the corresponding emotion. I will feel good emotions for good things, and all kinds of negative emotions for bad things, and in all kinds of negative emotions, I will convict others or myself (projection). This is the law of interaction between the workings of the subconscious mind and the ego mind, and the order in which the manifestation of guilt, the thinking judgement, the emotions and ultimately the projections appear.
So once the example alerted me to the feelings of boredom and I figured out the sequence of guilt manifestation and eventual projection, I reversed my thinking and thought according to Holy Spirit thinking:
It was some old guilt in my subconscious that manifested the incident of her nagging me, so the responsibility for this manifestation lies with my old guilt, not with her. And this manifestation also happened only in one of my dreams, which also includes the fact that that body of hers was only an illusory image that I dreamt up. Therefore I have no need to condemn her and deserve to forgive the dream that this nagging event never happened at all. In this way, I can forgive myself for dreaming of this event.
Since I have not split from the Lord, I am willing to release that image of her within the Lord. Thus, there is only purity and innocence here, and the Holy Spirit is with us.
Thus, after I had defined the event as a manifestation of guilt and practised forgiveness a few times with the dream as a backdrop (maybe I would have exerted all my strength and taken half an hour to complete it), the boredom would slowly fade away in my mind and be replaced by a sense of relief and a faint sense of peace. At this point, the Holy Spirit was with me. But not only is the Holy Spirit present with me, He also helps me to dissolve the old guilt in my subconscious. Because I had already forgiven all the illusions that guilt had manifested, that guilt was reduced to nothingness by my forgiveness. But it is precisely at that point that the Holy Spirit helps me to dissolve that illusory guilt. That’s what A Course in Miracles means when the Holy Spirit does the healing task as long as we can do the forgiveness task well.
When we can’t forgive the illusions that a particular guilt manifests, that guilt will always be recognised as real by our mind, and the Holy Spirit can’t help. But if, on the other hand, we are able to forgive a guilt that has been reduced to a mere illusion, the Holy Spirit is naturally invited to come out and dissolve the guilt. This is the healing element of the Holy Spirit.
So why would I want to dissolve the guilt by truly forgiving and inviting the Holy Spirit to dissolve it? It’s because if I don’t practice forgiveness and allow the Holy Spirit to dissolve the guilt, the guilt will remain in my subconscious mind, and then it will still be waiting for an opportunity to manifest a situation with the same connotation for me to experience. And not only that, but when I don’t practice forgiveness in a particular adversity, I’m bound to project new guilt in that adversity. This is like the example where I will keep getting sick of my wife. This is how guilt works, and how the mind either chooses to forgive or to project. Therefore, when I can respond to an adversity with forgiveness and invite the Holy Spirit to dissolve the corresponding guilt, I can not only stop the creation of new guilt, but I can also directly dissolve that guilt and make future situations with the same connotation disappear. This is the essential purpose of true forgiveness’s ability to “cut guilt both ways”. (If I forgive, but the same situation still occurs in the future, this is the “onion” pattern of guilt, which can be understood by referring to the Disappearance of the Universe.)
In a broader sense, the practice of true forgiveness leads to less and less guilt in the subconscious mind, which brings us closer and closer to the date of awakening. And along the way of true forgiveness, as guilt decreases, we experience a corresponding decrease in adversity. This is the ultimate goal of miracles and the essence of what it means for a miracle to change destiny.
Finally, after I have forgiven and been in the presence of the Holy Spirit in this example, I will also receive a more specific benefit, that is, some inspiration of the Holy Spirit may emerge in my heart in response to this event, and these inspirations will basically lead me to a miraculous action that is not in opposition to what I think and what I do. For example, after I practice forgiveness, an inspiration may appear in my heart that “I can forgive while listening to her nagging,” and then I will perform the miraculous act of listening patiently to her nagging. In this way, a complete practice of true forgiveness, elimination of guilt and inspiration of the Holy Spirit is completed.
There are three main points in this case:
I. Specific thought patterns for true forgiveness.
II. The purpose of true forgiveness.
III. Miraculous actions that are inspired by the Holy Spirit and accomplished in this way.
There are three general reasons why it is difficult for people to forgive in life. The first is from the upside-down thinking of the ego: the world is directed at me, not the manifestation of my subconscious; the second is a vague understanding of the purpose of forgiveness; and the third is that it is not clear what exactly is to be done after forgiveness. This makes it difficult for miracle students to practice true forgiveness when faced with the subject of forgiveness. Therefore, in this sharing, I share the thinking structure of true forgiveness, its purpose and its subsequent parts in a concise manner, and I will also talk about these three parts repeatedly in my future sharing. In this way you may develop a deeper understanding of this miracle thinking based on true forgiveness, so that you may be able to enter the practice phase of your life earlier.
